Minnitaki

The Minnitaki property is located within a region of Ontario that has a long history of mining and mineral exploration, and is well serviced with supporting infrastructure. Numerous gold occurrences are known throughout the area surrounding the Property, with the most significant being hosted within a 6 x 2km quartz-feldspar porphyry which is variably altered and mineralized. Assays of up to 122 g/t have been returned from samples taken from trenches in the porphyry, and limited drilling in the same area by the Company and Triex Minerals Corp. has returned potentially bulk mineable values (e.g. 31.8 metres grading 2.06 g/t gold in Triex hole 99-10) which are open along strike and at depth. Elsewhere in the property, narrow, high-grade gold values (e.g. 0.45 metres grading 16.2 g/t gold in Triex hole 99-01) are associated with quartz veining or shear zones in the volcanic rocks intruded by the porphyry, or in small bodies of porphyry.

LOCATION
The property is located approximately 20 kilometres southwest of the town of Sioux Lookout in Northwestern Ontario.

Size

The Minnitaki property comprises six patented and one unpatented claim.

Ownership

Silver Quest owns a 100% interest in the Minnitaki property.

Target and Potential

The Company was last active on the property in 2002 and carried out a $200,000 exploration program which included eight core holes to further test the area of the mineralized porphyry. Five of these holes were sited on the "Triex Zone", while the other three were drilled on the "Western Zone". The latter is a new target which was generated by reinterpretation of old geophysical data.

The drilling on the Triex Zone did not significantly expand the known mineralization. However, two of the three holes on the previously untested Western Zone, located approx 250 metres to the southwest, returned significant gold intercepts at shallow depths, viz:

  Interval (m) Length (m) Au Grade (g/t)
Hole #6 27.73 - 35.30 7.57 3.08
Hole #7 27.70 - 39.75 12.05 2.68

Geology

The geological setting is typical of many Archaen-age greenstone-hosted gold deposits in the Canadian Shield. Several of Canada's largest producers such as the McIntyre Mine at Timmins and the Hemlo deposit, are hosted in felsic porphyries similar to the Minnitaki setting.
